Food: I nurse Mel 3 times a day now. Once when she wakes up for the day, once before her afternoon nap (usually 1:30) and right before bedtime. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel when I'll be able to go somewhere and not worry about being home to feed Mel. Unfortunately that means my baby girl will be 1 soon! Boo-Hoo!!

Melanie still likes everything we give her to eat. She has eaten through the baby food I made and froze, so now we are onto whole foods. The current eat-list:

• sweet potato
• broccoli
• peas and carrots
• blueberries
• strawberries
• yogurt
• peaches
• pears
• egg
• pancake
• cheese
• lunch meat
• squash
• mushrooms
• noodles
• cottage cheese
• avocado

An expansive list!




 

Sleep: It was a slow process, but Mel finally got back to sleeping all night. YAY!! Just in time for Mommy to come down with an insane case of insomnia. BOO!! But napping is like clockwork, which is great.



Temperament: I can see how Mel is different from Reed in many ways. Both kids were happy babies, but Reed was 'happy-quiet' and Mel is 'happy-loud.' Mel will smile at anyone. Reed wouldn't' smile at anyone. She can take anything and make it fun. Reed wants to analyze and figure out how it works. 
 







Melanie loves:

-When Mommy comes to get her in the morning

-Playing: I can get some serious giggles out of this girl

-Skype-ing with family: she may or may not be hanging up on Nana

-Being held

-Shopping!

 

-Walks

-Screeching: Wes and I like to call it her pterodactyl voice

-Books

 





 



Mel dislikes:

-Being fed at meals: all she wants to do is feed herself. One day she fussed at me until I gave her something she could feed herself, and she was a happy girl!

-When Mommy leaves the room
-Being tired
-Being hungry
-When brother pushes her over

 

New adventures:


-Wearing size 4 diapers. Actually, both kids are wearing size 4 diapers. My goodness!!

-Size 12 month clothes: When she starts motoring around I'm sure she'll drop a clothes size AND diaper size. Those rolls are so cute, though!

-Getting up on all fours. Really wanting to move, but not there yet.

-Finding her voice: Melanie has loved cooing and screeching, but she recently started really "talking." Current favorites are "Baa, maa, waa."

-First swing: She LOVED it!

-Practicing with her Sippy: no progress yet. She likes putting it on the floor, though.

-Wrinkled nose smile: It's hysterical
