7 Years and Counting!

Our sweet story starts in the year 1995. Yes. Almost 20 years ago!! We were both present at a church dance (oxymoron?) and happened to dance together once. My only real memory is that he was tall, which was a definite rarity for me. I was one of those girls. Too tall for just about everyone. Wes has told me his only memory is that I was cute.

We didn't go to the same middle school so we wouldn't see each other again for a few years.

Fast forward to high school.

We were in the marching band together. Yes, how cute:

Went to senior prom together, too:

Separate colleges: we were civil, except for one day a year:

We survived 5 years apart:

And found our happily ever after:

We've been here:

We've been there:

We've done this:

And climbed that:

And felt so grateful:

Until a certain little boy came along. Words cannot describe the love we felt.

And not long later this beautiful lady arrived. Hearts so full they are bursting with love and thanksgiving.

14 years of love, 7 years of marriage, 3 cities, 2 amazing kids.

It's been hard. It's been tough. But I wouldn't change it and I certainly couldn't imagine a better partner for this life. Thank you, love, for an incredible 7 years of marriage. You are my rock and the best father for our children. Looking forward to many more adventures with you!

Enjoy!

Reed Update - 2 years!

Height:  35.5 inches (a little less than 7 markers)

Weight:  27 lb

Hair: Blonde

Eyes: Blue

Food: Reed is all about dairy and fruit. When he can get into the fridge he goes straight for the drawer with grapes. And if he thinks about it he reaches for the yogurt. He will have strong bones for sure! He also loves finishing Mel's food.

Sleep: Reed is a great sleeper. Sometimes he doesn't want to take a nap, but he's a boy. I can understand that. We are going to start getting away from the sleeping bag and paci sometime soon.

Temperament: Reed is happy when he gets to watch his movies, eat cookies, be outside, or play with his cars. If you stop him from doing one of these things or tell him he cannot do one of these things, "Houston we have a problem." And when he gets really mad he throws things. Not in an "I'm about to explode with rage" kind of thing, more like the "I just want you to see me throw this."  I have to turn away because I can't help but laugh. It's the calmest angry throw you've ever seen.

Reed loves:
-Cookies

-Outside: he is a boy, of course he loves outside

-Bubble Guppies (always)

-Movies: He can now sit for longer periods of time for movies. Some of our faves:
Over the Hedge
Wall-E
Cars
Up

-Lining up things:

-Books: Our current favorite books:

1. Ten Splishy, Splashy Fish; thanks BB!
2. Song and Dance Man
3. The Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room
4. The Story for Little Ones: bible stories
5. Who Wants an Old Teddy Bear?
6. The Bedtime Book
7. Still loves his Bible from his awesome Godparents: I still find him sitting in his room "reading" it.
He LOVES it Diem family!

-Airplanes

-Vehicles: Cars, trucks, wheels, planes, etc.

-Squeezable applesauce and yogurt

-Holding Melanie

-Big kids: He will become their shadow, whether they like it or not. Big kids are cool!! Especially his cousins.

-The shower:

New adventures:

=Communicating coherently! We've been going to speech for almost 2 months now and Reed has exploded with speech! We couldn't understand a word he said before apart from Mama and Dada, but now we know 90% of what he says. He is much happier that he can get his point across and so are we! He loves going to play with Ms. Sara:

=Helping: If you read this post, you know Reed is great at helping. Some of his favorites are helping prepare meals

=Getting his finger stuck in things: whether it be the shopping cart or a small piece of his car

=We're holding the 2T clothes at bay, but it won't be long!

=Climbing: Ugh-I caught him on top of the computer desk the other day. STANDING! That's about 3 feet off the ground. Mild Mommy heart-attack.

=First weekend alone with Daddy! I went on a MOPS leadership retreat, taking Mel with me, and the boys were left to fend for themselves! It sounds like they had a great time!

Waking up with Daddy

Breakfast at Chick-fil-a!

Playing
They had fun playing and doing a few projects around the house. And there was NO whining at bedtime because I wasn't there! They missed us and we sure missed them.

It's hard to believe this little 6 pound baby is so big now!

Reed - 5 Months

Height:  27.5 inches

Weight:  17 lb.

Hair: Blonde

Eyes: Blue

Food: Breastfed, but we've started practicing with the spoon.

Not sure about this

Sleep: This little one is stubborn! He keeps waking up during the night, so we had to start sleep training. It didn't go real well. He has learned to fall asleep by himself, but he is still up at night. Listening to him cry around 8 at night is one thing, but listening to it at 1 in the morning is a bit tiresome. I'm praying he learns to sleep through the night soon!! We have, however, started sleeping on our tummy.

Temperament: Reed is a really sweet boy until he wakes up at 1 in the morning, EVERY night.

Chillin
Little ducky!!

Reed loves:
-Mommy and Daddy
-Story time
-Putting things in his mouth

busted

-Playing

New adventures:

=Tummy sleeping

=Thanksgiving: We loved celebrating Thanksgiving with Reed. We have a lot to be thankful for!

=Story time: As a part of sleep training we have come up with a new nighttime routine for Reed which includes story time. He likes listening to the stories and trying to grab the pages.

=Meeting Santa and Mrs. Clause: We marched in the Keller Christmas parade with Harvest Church and while we were waiting, the sweet Clause couple offered to take a picture with him.

Too much excitement

They seriously look the part!

Chair picture time!
